The company name, Aventure Works, was derived as a contracted phrase for “A joint-venture works”. Aventure Works operates along-side our customers, creating win-win working relationships and common goals. We like to adopt our customers’ goals and prefer to use the word “we” in an inclusionary sense while working through project particulars with our clients. When appropriate, we adopt contingency pricing into our joint-venture relationships. Aventure Works shouldn’t be confused with the AdventureWorks sample database that Microsoft began shipping with SQL 2005 (October, 2005).

Please tell me this is a play off the very popular Adventure Works sample databases.

    Hi Kevin –

No, actually it’s not. Thanks though for calling my attention to the ambiguity in the original post, which I’ve revised and extended accordingly.

Side note: nor is it a play off of Accenture, which Andersen Consulting had rechristened itself as earlier in 2001, and which, according to a blurb on Wikipedia, is derived from the phrase accent on the future.

    Cordially –
